    Remove the background from a photo and download a transparent PNG, or drop your subject straight onto a white background, a colour of your choice, or a completely different picture. You see the original and the result side by side before you download, so there are no surprises.

    How to use it

    Getting the best result

    • Use a photo where the subject clearly stands out from what is behind it.
    • Even lighting with no strong shadow on the backdrop gives the cleanest edge.
    • Avoid backgrounds that are the same colour as the subject's clothing or hair.
    • Higher resolution photos produce a smoother, more accurate outline.

    • The output is always a PNG, because PNG is the format that supports transparency.
    • Choosing white is handy for passport, PAN and other official photo requirements.
    • The built-in remover keys the subject out against the background colour measured across the whole image, so it also clears background trapped inside closed shapes such as the loops of a signature. It is designed for plain backgrounds; for complex scenes, the site owner can connect an AI background removal service from the admin panel - no change to this page is needed.

    Your files and your privacy

    Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, stored under a random name that cannot be guessed, and processed on the server.     What file do I get back?
    A PNG image at the same pixel dimensions as your upload. If you chose the transparent option, the area around your subject is genuinely transparent and can be placed over any design.
    Can I get a white background instead of a transparent one?
    Yes - pick the White option before processing. That is the setting most official photo uploads ask for.
    Why does the edge look rough on my photo?
    Backgrounds with shadows, gradients or colours close to the subject are hard to separate. Try a photo with a plainer, more evenly lit backdrop, or ask the site owner to enable an AI removal service for difficult images.
    Can I use this for a PAN or passport photograph?
    Yes. Remove the background, choose White, download the PNG, and then use the UTI or NSDL crop tool to get the exact pixel size and DPI the application requires.
    Is my photo stored or used for anything?
    No. It is processed and then deleted automatically, and it is never used for training, sharing or advertising.
